Wasteful Officials Idle Their SUVs

Grassley lectured government officials today for idling their SUVs. According to Grassley, these officials will leave their vehicles idling for hours while they conduct government business. In a letter to the president dated July 10, Grassley has asked the president to help stop this wasteful practice.
The senator may have a point. Why should tax payer money be wasted on idling inefficient SUVs and limousines? I support this new Grassley crusade, but if Grassley has all of this time on his hands, could he not look into addressing much larger sources of waste in the federal government such the Bridge to Nowhere for Alaska and the Indoor Rainforest in Iowa. Or maybe he could begin to tackle important issues such as Social Security and income tax reform.
One ironic point is that the senator's office went out of its way to demonstrate Grassley's concern for fuel efficiency by telling us all that the senator drives a 1996 Town Car while in Washington. According to his office, this vehicle gets a whopping 15 miles per gallon in the city. That is the way to provide a good example for American's!
